Upon receiving my place on the

London Marathon,

I decided I would start this blog site.

The purpose of this site is to enable myself and anyone else who wishes to blog here, to keep a training diary, to share thoughts and feelings about running and getting fit and to share any training tips.

My reasons for running the London Marathon are two fold. Ever since running a half marathon when I was 18, despite the fact in near killed me, I have always wanted to run the marathon. Every time I mentioned it, people told me I was mad and managed to put me off for many years.

Earlier this year I entered the

Bupa 10K Great London Run

and as I started to train for it to get fit, I found that I started to enjoy it, from their I straight away entered the

Burnham Beeches Half Marathon

.

After completing it, I was hooked and filled in my application for the London Marathon.

My second reason, is for my beautiful boy Sam, who is now 2.

He had a very difficult first year, having 4 lots of surgery (1 hernia, 2 x heart and 1 gastric). The hernia and gastric operations were both at St Marys Hospital in Paddington.

After the gastric surgery, in November 2006, he needed to be in the Peadiatric Intensive Care Unit, due to his heart conditon.

When I found out I could run the London Marathon for

COSMIC

(Children of St Mary's Intensive Care), I jumped at the chance.

So, for me , training for, and completing (because I will finsih it), gives me the chance to say thank you to the staff at St Mary's PICU who took excellent care of Sam, as well as achieving a long standing personal goal.Home - nucleuscms.org
